A reader of this announcement list offers this suggestion for contributing to the Songs of Resistance CD:
I am going to collect all of the coins in change in various places in my house, roll them, and exchange them for dollars that I will send to you for the CD's. I'll never miss this change and it will benefit your worthy cause.
Today's mail brought a $50 check from Australia. I don't know the donor, but obviously, he practices the message of John Donne's "No man is an island."
Here's my address:

About 4,000 New Orleans public school students spent the days leading up to Christmas at school figuring fractions and practicing punctuation. The students, mainly in grades four, eight, nine and 12, were asked to spend most of their winter vacation in school honing math and English skills and preparing for the high-stakes Louisiana Education Assessment Program, which is fewer than 50 school days away.
