Marilyn Vos Savant Shows She's No Genius
Comment: And Vos Savant is supposed to be a genius... .
A concerned educator provided the Illinois Test Security Guidelines:
Question: I teach in a grammar school where teachers are asked to take the entire battery of standardized tests themselves a few weeks in advance of administering them. We are told that we should do this not so we know specific questions but so we make sure we've covered everything.
Do you think this invalidates the results for our school, since the teachers of the children in the official standardization group probably didn't know all of the questions in advance?

Marilyn Vos Savant replied:
I don't think this practice invalidates the scores, although they may be higher as a result. Also, assuming that you only take the tests and aren't allowed to keep them, I think it's a good idea. You won't remember any specifics, but you'll surely notice any whole areas that you didn't cover in class. If you then proceed to rectify your omissions, your students will benefit from a better education.
