    Miss Heritage is the New Miss Mississippi

    VICKSBURG --Kimberly Morgan is the new Miss Mississippi.

    The contestant representing as Miss Heritage was chosen from a field of 47 contestants during a week-long pageant.

    The show was broadcast locally by Fox 25.

    Morgan becomes only the second black woman to represent Mississippi in the Miss America Pageant. Toni Seawright was the first.

    Four contestants from South Mississippi competed in the weeklong pageant in Vicksburg: Miss Gulf Coast Emily Aldridge; Miss William Carey University Elizabeth Goff; Miss Dixieland SaSha Williamson and Miss Mississippi Coast Christine Kozlowski.

    None of the women were in the Top 10.

    The first runner-up is Miss University, Amanda Harmon.

    The second runner-up is Miss Leaf River Valley, Natalie Goldman.

    The third runner-up is Miss New South, Anna Tadlock.

    The fourth runner-up is Miss Mississippi State, Danielle Smith.

    The contestants were judged on a composite score that was 30 percent of the total, talent, 30 percent, evening wear 20 percent and swimwear 20 percent.

    Judges for the pageant were author and playwright E. Lynn Harris, past judge Rick Pruitt, former U.S. Secretary of Education Dr. Rod Paige, former state and Miss Mississippi pageant judge Vernon Desear and president and CEO of Miss America Pageant Leonard Horne.
