Dear Ms. Class:

I wonder why you would waste time discussing what teachers eat for lunch. Children and teachers themselves are much more important than food. Why don't you spend your time on what matters?

Dear Pasadena:

People more important than food? True, Ms. Class would rate her principal higher than, say, an anchovy, but who could rank higher than chocolate mousse?

This could be a new diversion for the faculty room: rank how your enemies and friends measure up against Hamburger Helper, Spaghetti-O's, raw csuliflower with Cheez-Whiz, mayonnaise and red onion sandwiches (on white bread), tuna patty melt, lima beans, cottage cheese with catsup, liver with mint sauce, tofu burgers, pineapple and guacamole pizza, potat chips from a can, mashed potatoes from a box, french fries from a freezer, refried beans, nonalcoholic beer, grits, turnip greens sourdough bread, sole a la dieppoise, thirty-garlic chicken, sushi, salmon with cranberry-leek sauce, goobers marinated in Coke, artichoke brownies, coconut fritters, peanut butter puffs, Poptarts, Froot Loops, Twinkies a la mode, Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia. . . .
