Report Says 75 Percent of Young Americans Unfit for Military Service

    by Susan Ohanian

That's the headline on Fox News and elsewhere. It has me wondering about what we could do to make it "100 Percent of Young American Unfit for Military Service?" That would put an end to our horrible military involvement where we don't belong.

As Greg Palast notes today, "Every war begins with a lie."

The truth is, we're not in Afghanistan to stop al Qaeda's US attackers, because they weren't "based" there in the first place, and their leaders are not there now.

Nick Turse writes in Tomgram :

"According to Pentagon estimates, more than 1.5 million (yes, that is 'million') pieces of U.S. equipment need to be removed from [Iraq]. . . .

"While the United States officially insists that it is not setting up permanent bases in Afghanistan, the scale and permanency of the construction underway at Bagram seems to suggest, at the least, a very long stay. According to published reports, in fact, the new terminal facilities for the complex aren't even slated to be operational until 2011."

We definitely need to make sure more of our youth are unfit for military service.
