National Demonstration & Show Of Force Against Enemies of Public Education

    Join NOW!

As the outrage and tragedy precipitated by The Los Angeles has shown us, those of us who care about public schools are all in this together. When an opportunity arises to defeat a Corporatist big time, then we must join hands across the country and do what we can.

A Florida victory here will be a victory for all of us.

    Dear Friends of Public Education:

This appeal to join A NATIONAL DEMONSTRATION & SHOW OF FORCE against enemies of public education needs to GO VIRAL --and ASAP!

Please pass it along to your personal network of friends, family, educators, education researchers and other friends of public education. Circulate it on the social media: FACEBOOK, Twitter, etc.

The urgency comes from a rare opportunity presented here in Northeast Florida in the race for the Florida Senate District 8 seat currently held by John Thrasher, Florida's No. 1 Enemy of Public Education, who also happens to be head of the scandal-plagued Florida Republican Party. Thrasher made national news a few months back for ushering in Senate Bill 6, which tied a good portion of teacher salaries to tests and would have created a new series of tests costing taxpayers millions. SB6 was so controversial that the governor of Florida, who recently switched from Republican to Independent, vetoed the bill. Thrasher had been a lobbyist for the testing industry before winning the vacated senate seat in a special election a year ago.

On August 24, Thrasher took a thrashing from constituents in his heavily Republican district with 41 percent of voters supporting his Republican challenger---a political newcomer! Now he faces a formidable Democratic opponent.

Deborah Gianoulis, a former Jacksonville, FL television news anchor with high name recognition and public trust, jumped into this race following her fight against SB6 as head of Save Duval Schools, part of a grassroots statewide network whose pressure was key in the bill's veto.

Florida's No. 1 Enemy Of Public Education is vulnerable! He is vulnerable not only because of the wrath from voters within his own party, but also because of the outstanding challenger he faces Nov. 2. In the last quarter, she out-raised Thrasher in campaign contributions. But big money is expected to flow to Thrasher in this high-stakes race.

Become part of a history-making victory for public education by making a small donation to the Gianoulis campaign.

Please help send Deborah Gianoulis to the Florida Legislature with a donation or $10 or more.

The national media (and politicians) will not be able to ignore a tsunami of $10 donations from around the nation pouring into this race, which can become a history-making symbol—the place where the nation threw down the gauntlet to protect and preserve public schools.
