    Put video cameras in classrooms, help do objective teacher evaluations, says state board member

    Ohanian Comment: Akshay Desai is a medical doctor. Would he agree to video cameras in every doctor's office, emergency room, surgery, etc. so that a state board can have the opportunity to "objectively" evaluate physician medical skills, bedside manner, etc.?

    The Medical Evaluation Board could have the same makeup as the Florida state board of education:

  • President and Chief Executive Officer of the Urban League of Greater Miami, Inc;

  • President, CEO and Chairman of Universal Health Care;

  • leader of sustainability initiatives and public policy at The Mosaic Company, the world’s leading producer and marketer of concentrated phosphate and potash;

  • lawyer and a partner at the law firm of Colson, Hicks;

  • founder of private equity investment firm, frequent traveler to Europe and the Caribbean;

  • Chair and Chief Executive Officer of WRScompass, an environmental management and civil construction company;

  • President and CEO of Gulf Power Company;

  • former teacher and administrator

  • Reader Comment: Are we really trying to implement every notion Orwell put on paper?

    State Board member Akshay Desai suggested this morning that the state put video cameras in school classrooms as a teacher evaluation tool.

    "This video will provide us the opportunity to have more objective evaluations," Desai said.
