I Don't Read Huffington Post; Maybe You Shouldn't Either
by Susan Ohanian
I stopped writing for Huffington Post some months ago when they kept running a big ad for "Waiting for Superman" above my columns.
I started writing them so I could publish Gerald Bracey's last column, one he had just finished the night before he died. I should have stopped immediately when they wouldn't publish it.
You can read Jerry's column here George Schmidt at SubstanceNews and Jim Horn at Schools Matter agreed with my suggestion that we all publish it on the same day.
Some of the hotlinks no longer work, but Peter Heimlich is relentless in following this sleazy matter involving Arne Duncan in Chicago.
It's too bad to be forced to boycott Huffington--some good people write there. But there is a larger issue here. Following the principles of capitalism, Huffington exploits writers for their own princely profit. A lawsuit calls it a peonage system.
Godonlyknows, I've been writing for free for decades, but I refuse to have exploitative ads that demonize public schools plastered above my work.
