Teacher Redeployment

Re: Notice of Redeployment

As part of the U.S. Department of Education 50-state strategy to ensure the inequitable distribution of the nation's best teachers, you are hereby given notice to relocate immediately from your Palo Alto teaching position (where the percentage of highly qualified teachers is 100%) to one in rural Appalachia, where they need a little help.

As President Obama, Arne Duncan, Oprah, Randi Weingarten, Bill Gates, and Thomas Friedman have testified, "One of the most important factors in raising student achievement is a highly qualified teacher." This Race to Redeployment is a scalable solution to student equity and a new leadership opportunity for accomplished teachers without having them leave the classroom. Yes, we will be shuffling classrooms, based on first-rate data analysis, but every teacher will still have a classroom.

This redeployment is based on a needs assessment, aligned with the Common Core State Standards, student academic achievement records, and the alignment of Orion with Jupiter.

Title II, Part Q provides the Department of Education the flexibility to use funds creatively to address challenges to teacher quality, whether they concern teacher preparation and qualifications of new teachers, recruitment and hiring, induction, professional development, teacher retention, or redeployment.

Do your part. Pack your bags.
