    One More Piece of Evidence that There IS a National "Acceptable Rate" for No Diploma Kids
    . . .[HISD Superintendent Kaye]Stripling announced the task force's creation Monday and said she wants its first priority to be raising the district's graduation rate to 85 percent. The rate for 2000, the last year reported, was 68 percent.

    That figure represents the percentage of students who graduate after four years in high school.

    Ohanian Comment: Right now, the 'acceptable' failure rate kicked around in Massachusetts is 19%. Watch for the figure in YOUR state.
