    The school board at South Grove Elementary School in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, has wiped out band--to save the $26,000 salary of the part-time band instructor who teaches at several schools.

    "It basically comes down to, if we don't cut here, we have to cut somewhere else," said Superintendent Jerry Robicheau.

    Ohanian Questions :

    1. Why is music considered expendable?

    2. How much does the school spend on standardized tests?

    3. Has anyone done a cost benefit analysis on which does a kid more good? Learning to play the trumpet in fifth grade or learning how to bubble in multiple choice answers?
