From a Teacher Who Wants to Spend More Time with "Good Students"

Ohanian Comment: Maybe all recalcitrant, lazy, and indifferent pupils should just be taken out and shot? I always thought it was a teacher's job, nay, her sacred calling, to find ways to reach those recalcitrant, lazy, and indifferent kids?

As a teacher, I see a continuing trend toward the “dumbing down” and “watering down” of our not-too-high standards to begin with. It appears to me (no, it is a fact) that it is necessary to devote (waste) more and more valuable teaching time on recalcitrant and increasingly lazy and indifferent pupils - AS MANDATED by the administration. Pity the good student. . . .
