Whittier Parent Committee Declaration of Victory (Culmination of the SIT-IN) Susan Notes:
Ohanian Comment: The fight isn't over, but the Whittier Parent Committee, fighting for a library at their school, have shown their grit. They held a sit-in for 43 days and nights at La Casita, the field house connected with Whittier School. And they held the feet of local politicos who have taken them for granted to the fire. Likewise with the feet of Chicago Public School officials who have ignored them for years. These parents have proven that they are a force to be reckoned with.
